Learn your shooting style
When you are starting out with new equipment to you, my archery tips are to first shoot without concern for accuracy. Get a feel for what stance, grip, anchor, draw, follow through, and release is best for you. Then once you have a constant form that fits you then you can begin to work on your accuracy.
Know your equipment
Know the draw weight minimum and maximums for your bow. Know the draw length as well as your own. Find out your effective range is. For instance a consistent 8 inch group is what your looking for when finding the farthest shot you should take.
Take good care of your equipment
During peak use of your bow, bow wax should be applied to your string every two weeks. It is surprising how much that wax will do for your string, it can add seasons to your bowstrings life if you take care of it. Another good one of my archery tips is to always keep your bow stored at around room temperature if possible. Also dry it off when it has been exposed to rain.
Have confidence
Consciously you have to believe and know that you can make that shot. This is the part when practice comes in. Hopefully you are in a situation where you can shoot your bow a few times a week, it doesn't have to be 50 shots. The fact is that 15 minutes a few times a week is more helpful than 90 minutes once a week. If you cannot find the time or place to shoot a couple times a week there are always bow hunting clubs in most parts of the U.S with can provide you with even more archery tips and advice.
Join a bow club
There are many archery clubs around the country and it greatly increases you confidence and skills when you are under pressure at a bow shoot. It is a great hobby to take up in the off season. You'll meet a lot of hunters and they are always willing to help you out with questions and give you plenty of archery tips. Week after week shooting 3-D targets really helps you judge distances and develop stamina as you make your way through the 30 shot course.
Frustration
Avoid this as much as possible. There will come a time where you may doubt certain things and wonder why you put in all this time and something just isn't working. My archery tips are that you just have to get through it and analyze what you may be doing wrong and what you can do to fix the problem. You are not the only one who has felt like you are in a slump. Just don't allow it to happen while you are perched up in a stand. For more hunting gear and equipment, check out Cabelas for the best namebrand products.
