The first of my coyote hunting tips is for when you are fairly close to where you will set up your stand, give a long, lone locator-type howl. Then listen as you move on in to your stand location. Make your way quietly and scan the terrain around you. Many times a coyote will come in quietly to see who the new voice in his territory is.
Other times, this lone howl will stimulate the coyotes territorial instincts when he later hears your distressed rabbit calling. Also howling is an important part of calling because on many occasions, I've had a coyote come in to a howl when they didn't come to the squalls of the dying rabbit calls. So when your not having luck with the distress call. Pull out the howl call and see what happens.
When you're hunting one of nature's most weary predators, make sure you are doing everything you can to put the chances of success back in your favor. A coyote is an animal that has about the best set of eyes for spotting out-of-the-ordinary objects at long distances and even the slightest of movements. That being said, the most important of the coyote hunting tips is put camo on your face and on your clothing is a must. Even though they are colorblind you should still conceal yourself well.
Another good coyote hunting tip is to use a cover scent like coon or skunk. Any scent that matches your surrounding area will do the trick though. And a final coyote hunting tip is to have a dependable weapon and maybe put a decent little scope on it. Such as a 1.5x shotgun scope. These are my coyote hunting tips. So give them a try next time your in the woods and good luck.
