First, you want a good old dependable grunt call. Now, many of these regular grunt calls are really nice because they give you other deer sounds to go with them. For instance, the True Talker, by H.S. Calls, they have bands near the end of the call and you just press down on whichever sound you would like. They have fawn sounds, doe bleats, young buck grunts, and mature buck grunts. Those are the type of deer hunting calls you want to invest in first. Technically that may be all you need to take with you but for some of us, we want a little more.
There are specific bleats and grunt only calls if you are really only out to produce a certain sound. Then there is also the new revolution of estrous bleats. Yes most of them come in the cans. They are effective because there is not really any human error possible and they imitate a doe that is ready to breed. They are usually under ten bucks and during your season when the rut kicks in, that might be the difference maker!
There are also electronic deer hunting calls. Those from what I know can be a little expensive and the thing about them is that you have to set them up, which it may not take a lot of time to do, but some hunters do not usually have extra time to set up speakers and all that sort of stuff. They do however provide once again no human error unless you of course hit the button too much or something like that. If you have the opportunity to try these electronic deer hunting calls, give them a try, they might be exactly what you are looking for.
