Filson and Maddog hunting vests have it all

By Robert B.

Have you considered Filson or Maddog hunting vests for your next hunting trip? Both of these companies offer great products, but they are geared towards different hunters as well. So what are the differences between Maddog and Filson hunting vests?

Material

Maddog products are mostly made of waterproof neoprene with a comfortable inner liner, while Filson hunting vests are made of oil finish tin cloth, which is a type of finished cotton material that Carhartts are made of.

Color and Camo

Maddog hunting vests use camouflage on all of their clothing and vests, which helps the dedicated hunter hide better in the woods, while Filson products use a tan Carhartt material. This material is very tough and will last for years, but it is not the most efficient form of camouflage.

Pockets

Both of these products have many pockets to help store all of your gear, calls, and other supplies. I prefer the pocket layout of the Filson products.

Whether or not you prefer Maddog or Filson hunting vests, both are excellent choices for vests, but their uses depend on what type of hunter you are. If you like to go full-out camo, then Maddog is for you, but if you are a casual hunter that just likes to walk through the woods, then I recommend durable Filson products.
