Don't forget floating saltwater lures on your next fishing trip

By Kevin B.

With floating saltwater lures, the key to work them is to make erratic action to simulate an injured bait, because that is what triggers the fish to think that they have an easy meal. There are so many floating saltwater lures out there as well, such as Rapala and Rooster fish lures.

Rapala makes some really neat ones. The Rapala Skitter Pop is a surface popper with the trademark Rapala action. Features include a unique cupped lip, stainless steel hooks, stainless steel finishes and natural baitfish color choices. This lure is deadly for snook, speckled trout, redfish and tarpon, as well as freshwater game such as striper, muskie and northern pike. The Skitter Pop can be fished using a variety of techniques, making it a versatile topwater bait. The lure is particularly effective when fish are aggressive or busting bait on the surface.

I would say this is a definite first choice bait once you hit up your fishing hole, then I would say your next floating saltwater lure to go to would be the Original Floating Rapala. The integrity of the design makes it the most versatile of fishing lures. Whether twitched on the top as a surface bait, retrieved as a shallow runner, weighted with a split-shot for medium depths or bottom walked off a sinker rig, the wounded minnow action continues to be irresistible to game fish.
