Massive Largemouth Bass Caught in S. Africa -- Near World Record
Fisherman Deon Carstens caught and released this massive 755-millimeter (30-inch length) Florida Strain Largemouth Bass recently in Mpumalanga, S. Africa. The fish, released alive, was estimated at weighing between 17 and 18 pounds, as Big Bass authority Doug Hannon "The Bass Professor" received the picture from the angler via e-mail stating it had been caught on Hannons' Brown Rat snake lure near the Witbank Dam in Mpumalanga, S. Africa. Doug Hannon, known as" The Bass Professor", has caught over 800 10-pound-plus Largemouth Bass and his largest Bass measures 754 millimeters and weighed 17.4 pounds.
