Coast Guard: instability doomed MA fishing boat (WBZ News Radio Boston)
The Coast Guard says a New Bedford fishing boat became rapidly unstable as a full fishing net was lowered on deck, causing it to sink and kill its captain a year ago. The Coast Guard said Friday that its investigation showed the 71-foot dragger Costa & Corvo capsized and sank quickly, killing 57-year-old Antonio Mesquita.

Over the past few years, I've enjoyed using some nice Lorpen hunting socks in cold weather, and they have served me well. They're the best cold-weather socks I've ever owned, and even in my Wal-Mart boots with little or no insulation, they serve me well year after year... including last month's elk hunt in the Colorado mountains.

Jig and Pig Fishing
A jig and pig is one of the best big-bass baits around. It seems to get even better in cold water. Learn to rig one and fish it this year and see how it performs. I had to make myself fish one until I got used to it and caught some fish, now I always a rod and reel with one rigged and ready on the deck of my boat.

Can't Believe He Ate The Whole Thing
Sometimes it seems bass won't hit anything you throw at them but at times they can be real pigs. This bass must have had a special love of plastic baits. It was full of them when it was cut open to be mounted. Be sure to check out the picture.

I got a pair of these 8x binocs on loan for my elk hunt, and I've used them for deer hunting as well. They're mighty good (as the high price suggests). And it was interesting to note that they offered about as much magnification as a Leupold scope set at 12x...
