Inactive Winter Bass
Catching bass in the winter is tough. I have a rule of thumb about water temperatures. If the temperature is above 50 degrees F I am confident I can catch bass. If it is between 45 and 50 my hope fades but I think I might get lucky and catch one. If the water temperature is below 45 I don't have much hope at all.

Reviews - Energizer Night Strike LED Flashlights

Well, the folks at Energizer have turned out some new lights, aimed specifically at hunters and other outdoorsmen (and women). Actually, these things hit the streets a few months ago, and I've been putting all three of Energizer's Night Strike lights to the test all hunting season. Now's the time to report on them, and let you know how they held up and just about their good (and not-so-good) features. They're tough and bright, for sure... but what about price, practicality, and design? Check out the reviews to find out.

Edit: Later on Wednesday night, after I'd published these reviews and this blog post, the Night Strike Handheld light went haywire. It turned itself on and wouldn't turn off! Naturally, I had to edit the review to reflect that. What a shame.

Tennessee Handle on a Fishing Rod
Tennessee handles on spinning rods are very popular. There is no real seat or mechanical device for attaching the reel. You just tape the reel to the rod handle. This saves weight and you can place the reel anywhere on the handle for balance.
