Review: 40" Bipod Shooting Sticks

Not all shooting sticks are created equal - trust me. These are right up my alley... they're simple, but very versatile. This can be a bipod, monopod, or diagonal mono rest (running diagonally from the rifle to your belt area) of varying length. The neoprene case it comes with doubles as a holster for the end of the rest when you use it that way. In short, this is the best bipod product I have ever seen.

Eating Bowfin
Bowfin Robert and his dad caught a bowfin and were surprised how hard it fought - and how hard it was to kill. They cooked it and he says I am wrong saying they are not good to eat. Several folks have told me that - I will have to try to cook the next one I catch, like the small one in the picture that hit a worm while I was bass fishing in Georgia

Building a Muzzleloader

The Kit, When I First Opened it

Several years back, I built myself a smokepole from a kit... a CVA Hawken .50-caliber muzzleloading rifle. While I was at it, I took a bunch of photos and spent more than a couple hours writing about it. The result is seventeen pages of really good stuff, which has helped more than one person put together his own gun. Check it out... I think you'll enjoy it.

Fishing For Bedding Bass In Georgia
Bass pictures Many people condemn fishing for bedding bass. They say it hurts the bass population in several ways. In many northern states there is a bass season that does not open until after the bass bed. But in the south, there is no season and it is legal to fish for bedding bass. And every indication says catching bass off the beds does not hurt the bass population.

Winter Bass Patterns
Bass fishing this time of year can be real frustrating here in the south. Some warm days make you think the fish should be active but you can get fooled easily. Sometimes it does pay off to go bass fishing in the winter. Whether you catch fish or not it is better than sitting home!

My rule of thumb is if the water is over 50 bass bite pretty good, if it is 45 to 50 you might get a bite or two and if it is under 45 you will get a lot of casting practice without catching much. That only applies to the area I fish in middle Georgia and is my opinion. What do you think?

I had one of my best ever January tournaments this past Sunday, catching a five fish limit weighing 13.63 pounds, anchored by a 5.87 pound largemouth. You can read the play-by-play in the forum - you can read as a guest or log in.
