Hunting & Fishing Commentary

Is President Obama Going To Ban Sport Fishing?
There is much outcry from both conservative and liberal groups about the possibility of Obama banning sport fishing. An ESPN blog got it started and many on both sides have run with it. The controversy revolves around the ending of the public comment period for a policy group studying what to do about fishing zones and where you can and can not fish.

Fishing has already been banned by the Bush administration in some areas. This was done supposedly to protect endangered or threatened fish species. One comment on the liberal Media Matters site asks "When did fishing become a right?" Actually, many states, including mine here in Georgia, have passed constitutional amendments that say hunting and fishing is a right.

Read both sides of this controversy and then share your thoughts in the comments section below.

Who are Hunters?

Who are hunters? What do they do for wildlife, habitat, and for folks who don't even hunt? A lot. Through things like a ten-to-eleven percent excise tax on guns and ammunition, American hunters foot the bill for projects that benefit millions of non-hunters across the USA... and they're very likely your neighbors and co-workers.

Lake Seminole Two Toned Needle Fish
This oddly colored needle fish was swimming around in Lake Seminole I saw this strange looking fish at Lake Seminole and got a picture of it. I think it is a needle fish but it looks like Frankenfish, like it is two fish that were stuck together. Half the fish is green and half black. It was swimming around fine and did not act hurt or sick.

Lake Seminole is not far up the river from the Gulf of Mexico and has a lock at the dam so fish can come into the lake. I have seen mullet jumping in the lake. Do you have any idea what this fish is? Have you ever seen anything like it?
