Yard rats (squirrels) are perfect target practice

September 19th, 2005

Here’s an article Gayne Young wrote not to long ago about squirrel hunting; mainly using them to increase your accuracy for larger game.

“When I first started shooting them it was just to get them out of my yard. But it turns out they’re a lot harder to hunt than I thought. It’s good practice, keeps me sharp.”

Get them Yard Rats!

Illegal fishing is no joke

September 17th, 2005

While this doesn’t matter much to hobby fisherman, it’s fishing news non-the-less.

Two Indonesian boats were confiscated in Australia for potential illegal fishing after local fisherman tipped off the authorities. If it’s determined what they were doing was illegal, their boats will be destroyed and the crew could face fines & penalities.

They didn’t want all of their fish taken. They’re just jealous!

Squirrel hunting never gets old

September 15th, 2005

When’s the last time you went squirrel hunting?

Bring back those feelings from when you were young can make hunting even more enjoyable.

“Some people just never seem to grow up. I guess I’m one of them. I still get a quiet kick out of squirrel hunting, just like I did when I was 9 years old.”

$700,000 for a hunting addiction

September 12th, 2005

While this story doesn’t seem hunting related, it is.

This manager stole over $700,000 from her company to, get this, fund her and her husbands extreme hunting trips & supplies.

Seriously, if you need THAT much money to hunt, you’re not doing it right!

Learn about sports fishing

Here’s a good article about sports fishing that was posted recently.

It certainly gives another dimension to the topic that most people don’t think about.

Enjoy!

Want doves? Go to Utah.

September 8th, 2005

Via the Salt Lake Tribune (no surprise here), Utah is a great location for dove hunting.

This is certainly news to me, as I had no idea! (who did!)

Just another reason to go explore the serene outdoors the southwest has to offer.

Make sure you get all the proper paperwork and licenses before embarking on your hunting trip here.

Hey poachers! How’s 5 years in jail sound?

September 5th, 2005

How’s this for justice: a company was just fined a ton of money and it’s director sentenced to 5 years in jail for illegal fishing.

It’s nice to see justice being served for people taking advantage of our environment unjustly.

Hopefully this will be the standard to come!

September 3rd, 2005

Here’s a kid lucky enough to snag a 45 pounder, bigger than most of us so-called fisherman catch in a lifetime of fishing at the local watering hole.

Dad and his 6 year old son reeled in the beauty.

Congrats guys!

No SSN. No Fishing in Montana.

August 29th, 2005

Apparently a “multi-millionaire” (as he brags) was not able to take his boy fishing because it was required to provide a SSN to purchase a fishing license, where many states allow drivers license numbers to be taken.

There’s no real moral to this story, I just thought it was worth sharing with everyone.

What’s the world coming to when you can’t go fishing without fearing your identity being stolen!
